Peterson took out a $250,000 life insurance policy on his wife last summer, after she got pregnant.I don't know the culpability of the husband, as the facts aren't yet known. However, I find this particular revelation highly suspicious. But more on the part of the police, because of the implication. I don't know any insurance company that would issue a $250,000 policy without a physical and blood tests, which would require some knowledge on his wife's part.

I think you're correct. He may be guilty as most seem to conclude but the actions of the police seem more directed to cause him problems than to solve the disappearance. Anyone who questioned why he got a lawyer should be satisfied that he was looking after his interests.

because of the Enquiring minds, ie ..readers of National Enquirer, PD (I gather felt it a duty to inform family of the inpending press issue of NE), so, as further developments are due, only the investigators and leaks will be known as it goes...;o)
But many parts of a puzzle are starting to fit into their places.

Nothing about this case makes sense. The couple had a successful restaurant but SHE wanted to be near her family so they sold the restaurant and now HE sells fertilizer.
Perhaps the move was prompted by the fact that she realized there was an affair going on.........

Having worked at an insurance company I can tell you, you are correct.
However, he could have cancelled his policy without telling her, especially if he handled the family finances.

I am sure she must have agreed to the insurance policy - partly because of her child - in case something happened to her she probably was thoughtful enough to want to make sure her baby and husband were well provided for. The police didn't say that she didn't agree to it. But apparently the husband must have convinced her to take it out and had other evil plans. I wonder if the other woman was in on this plan.

Is there any reason to think she didn't know?

Suspicious, yes; but a solid, prosecutable case...NO. Beyond a reasonable..no chance. There are other, reasonable scenarios (scenaria?).

What good is a $250,000 insurance policy unless there's a death? If it were strictly for the money it would have been done differently. Something to look like an accident or natural death.
