Doggone, I've got to remember to have a box of Kleenex close by. LOL! You got me again with these beautiful photos of the Marines and Sailors saying their goodbyes to their loved ones today in San Diego.

Petty Officer Patricia Axelsen hugs her 23 month-old son, Tristan, as she says goodbye to him and her husband, Michael, who is also in the Navy, but not deploying, as marines and sailors attached to the USS Boxer prepares to sail along with six others from San Diego, Friday, Jan. 17, 2003.

This one really wrenches my heart.

I was hoping to at least make it through all my pings but I'm fading fast. Too many days with too little sleep.

I bid you all goodnight and I'll see you tomorrow. I hope the men overseas will forgive me for not being able to get back to them tonight.

God bless you, and all who come to the Canteen, for your steadfast support of our troops and veterans.

Good night troops and allies, wherever you may be. may God watch over you and keep you safe!
