"Roll" is side to side around the longitudinal axis (which is what that picture is). "Yaw" is side-to-side snaking (like a car weaving between lanes).
And this was during her acceptance trials--no airplanes on board.

Don't forget "Heave" which is linear motion along the deck-to-keel axis, ... and the leading cause of lightweights "heaving"!

Too bad the days of the battleship are over, aesthetically speaking, of course. Those great big guns going off--BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!--would put the fear of God in anyone.
