HARRISBURG | Sure, state's southeast is solid, but will Pittsburgh, Erie back the Birds?
Everybody knows Gov.-elect Ed Rendell will be the state's Cheerleader-in-Chief when the Philadelphia Eagles play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday for the National Football Conference championship at Veterans Stadium.
A football nut, Rendell's been a Birds season ticket holder for 34 years. That means he's seen almost every home-game pass, fumble, tackle and block from Norm Snead to Donovan McNabb.
It also means he's witnessed jubilant victories and more often humiliating defeats from Izzy Lang to Bobby Taylor.

Nope. Not on your life. We in Pittsburgh are taking a page fromt eh Florida Voters Handbook and demandig a recount of last week's game against the Titans.
Everybody knows the Steelers won. The Titans STOLE the game! It was the obvious management of the officials by the Power That Be that gave the game - illegally - to the Titans.
If everything had been counted correctly The Steelers would have won easily.
So BLEAH - PFFFFT on everybody else.

Hi, Dr.
Eaglemania reigns in this household!
I think most of the state will pull for the Eagles. If the Steelers were in and the Eagles were out, I'd go for the Steelers, no question. Gotta root for the state, IMO.

As a die hard skins fan I'm rooting for the team that has the ex-redskin on it. That's why I rooting for Tampa and Brad Johnson.
oops...
but the birds have Thrash and Mitchell. What shall I do?
If we could just get back half of the excellent players that this "bonehead" gave away, we'd have a real football team to watch.
Oh well, next year.

Thanks for the ping Dr. S!
Eagle mania has ALWAYS reined in this house! But what a rewarding run this one has been due to the long suffering (Ritchie the K, Ray Dead Man Walking Rhodes) followed by the steady rise. And a big thanks to Coach Andy for building the team around character guys, it's a team you can really be proud of.
I agree with you randita, there's plenty of room on the bandwagon for those from the Western part of the State- I know I rooted for the Black and Gold when we were out of it in years past.
Fly Eagles fly, on the road to victory.
Fight Eagles fight, score a touchdown 1-2-3.
Hit 'em low,
Hit 'em high,
And we'll watch our Eagles fly.
Fly Eagles fly on the road to victory.
E-A-G-L-E-S... EAGLES!!!

TAMPA BAY ALL THE WAY! The Bucs are hungrier this year and managed this season to break free of the curse of not winning when the mercury dips below 40 degrees (maybe because Florida is having such a chilly winter?), and Brad Johnson seemed to have found his arm against the 49'ers. All that plus an awesome defense should ensure a real shot at the title. GO BUCS!

No matter where you go in the country,Steeler fans are numerous . The reason is the "Burgh" is a town with a work ethic . Not a bunch of freeloaders like the fans from Philthydelphia .
Here we go Steelers, here we go !!!
If you ever get a chance to see a playoff game in the Burgh you will never forget the electricity and don't have to worry about being mugged if you cheer for the other team.

Surely you're not comparing the 49ers secondary to the Eagle's on equal terms....are you?
