Diversity, as a goal, is absurd. No it's not. There are legitimate reasons to favor things like a more diverse student body.
The absurdity is that diversity has become the goal, and nothing is allowed to stand in its way.

Just as the meanings of other words (such as 'gay' or 'choice' )have changed, the meaning of 'diverse' now means 'preferred minority.'

Diversity is a laudable goal, just not diversity based on race, which is no different than diversity based upon eye or hair color. Diversity of economic class, diversity of opinion, diversity of political philosophy (how about a little of THAT on faculties in colleges?) are all valid, but to suggest that diversity based on race is somehow shorthand for substantive diversity grounds is sheer racism and bigotry.

I disagree (strongly), and I challenge you to name even one, BUT
even accepting the notion that more diverse is better than less diverse, wouldn't you agree that diversity arising naturally is what you mean, not diversity brought about by a travesty like the U. of M. system?
