Illinois school bans "safe zones"
Members of the Rich Township High School school board in suburban Chicago voted 5-1 Monday to remove multicolor triangles signifying safe zones for gay and lesbian students from more than 100 classroom doors, the Chicago Tribune reports. The vote came after some parents accused the district, which includes schools in Olympia Fields, Richton Park, and Park Forest, of promoting homosexuality and discriminating against nongay students by allowing the triangles. The triangles signify that teachers in designated classrooms are comfortable talking about gay and lesbian issues.
The vote was a blow to many students, according to David Claudon, a language arts teacher who is a sponsor of a gay-straight alliance. "They are very disappointed," he said. "I think one of the things to work through for a few kids is, Does this mean the support is no longer there?"

There are 10% of our population who proclaim "gay". I would say the support for flaunting your bedroom habits and expecting us to be comfortable about it IS waning. Have sex with your dog, a sheep, someone of the same sex, someone of another sex. Dress in panties and stilleto heels, JUST
D@AM IT, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. I don't want to hear about it. And I sure don't want it in front of my kids.

The vote was a blow to many students, according to David Claudon, a language arts teacher who is a sponsor of a gay-straight alliance. I can't imagine being a high schooler and talking to my teacher about sex. That is the last thing we would have done, in my day. And it sounds like a dangerous practice too, given the proclivities of some of the teachers recently charged in high profile court cases!

Yeah, I hate to see gay people knowing who to talk to about their concerns.
There is a good reason teenage homosexuals commit suicide at a much higher rate than other teens: people treat them like human waste.

"I think one of the things to work through for a few kids is, Does this mean the support is no longer there?"The support should never have been there to start with. Providing a "safe" place for queers and faggots has NOTHING to do with education. Do what we pay you to do.
Encouraging a sick, twisted, perverted lifestyle is NOT why I contribute tax dollars each year.
Teach DAMNIT!!

I'm curious about why liberals want to promote the use of a symbol for any particular group, in this case, a triangle for homosexual students. In Germany in WW 2, the pink triangle was the symbol that homosexuals in the concentration camps were forced to wear. Why would homosexual groups today want to embrace a Nazi symbol?!

This is something I have never understood. How did the other kids who forced the suicides get the idea that this person is gay?

"I think one of the things to work through for a few kids is, Does this mean the support is no longer there?"No bonehead, it means that the rules are the same for everybody. Should students who are neo-nazis (and there are many of them) be able to have a swastika on school room doors?

"There is a good reason teenage homosexuals commit suicide at a much higher rate than other teens: people treat them like human waste."And of course feelings of guilt have nothing to do with it.....
