Well, somebody's gone nuts but it isn't America. The "Bush junta?" Right-wing Christians in charge of a holy war? Saddam's known chemical weapons magically disappearing? Whew!
To be charitable, Mr. Le Carre is unacquainted with either public opinion or political conditions in the United States at the present time. He is evidently overexposed to hysterical European cant on the matter and mistakes it for received truth. He should learn better, but I expect from the above that he's much happier in his certainty and his ignorance.
I didn't know Le Carre was a leftist, nor did I know that Le Carre was taking screenwriting tips from Oliver Stone. That being said, this is typical leftist projection. They go mad and then they run around in hysterics accusing everyone else of being insane.
