So you say that people fleeing from some despotic policies in their own countries ought to able to stay? If those policies are so despotic, why don't they stay there and change them?
They don't stay there because they lack the courage to work through the dangerous process of imposing their will on a corrupt government and changing it, like we did here 2+ centuries ago and will likely again.
If they lack the will and the courage there, they will lack the will and the courage here, and tolerate corruption in our system. We have enough of that now; I sure as hell see no point in importing more of it.
I hate to agree with you but I'd have to agree. I don't think deporting 100% of illegals should be the goal. For one it can't be done without trampling all over citizen's rights. For another it's not necessary ---if an illegal hasn't stolen someone's Social Security number, isn't committing other crimes, is driving with insurance, paying their own way completely, not loitering, not shoplifting, etc then why bother?
I'd rather see reforms made on immigration so that "legal" immigrants can't come using family reunification but then end up on SSI and Medicaid immediately. I'd rather see the freeloaders out than go after some guy working hard for cash but isn't hurting anyone or taking any of my money in any way or demanding anything. Also the laws should be changed that allow less worthy immigrants in legally but who become our dependants and allow only in those who will work ----even if they don't have "family ties".
