Washington-AP) -- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will join the Senate Committee on Armed Forces.
Clinton, who has already been a member of the Budget and Environment committees, joins the Armed Forces Committee at a time when the United States military faces a possible war with Iraq, a nuclear standoff with North Korea, and the ongoing threat from al Qaida.
The committee's jurisdiction includes all the national security programs at the Department of Defense, as well as the nuclear programs at the Department of Energy.
She is the first New York senator to serve on the committee since it was formed in 1947.
Clinton said now she ``will be better able to support New York's military bases and ensure that New York's defense industry continues to play a significant role in fulfilling the needs of our armed forces.''
New York State is home to a number of important installations, including the military academy at West Point and Fort Drum, where the 10th Mountain Division trains.

I want to know if the President Palmer's ex-wife on the TV 24 is based on Hillary Clinton.

I think Reagan shut down Rome Air Base. What hope do we have for the others with her at the helm. Oh, help!
To: GSWarrior
Let's try that again.
I want to know if President Palmer's ex-wife on the TV show 24 is based on Hillary Clinton.

Naturally her first thought is PORK, rather than protection and defense. How shallow can one senator be? Hillary continues to find new depths.

I guess this means the Chinese are still in a position to buy anything we have.

"You can't believe that the Dems would be acting any differently if Lott were Leader..."You're absolutely right, and Lott were still leader, she'd probably be on the 'Intelligence Committee'.

"Yeah, and guess who she'll use it against---US!"If she didn't do that, she would be the very first communist dictator not to. And the same people who drape themselves in the constitution and scream about "civil liberties" concerning John Ashcroft, will say nothing -- half of them because they will fear the midnight knock on the door and the other half because they will be absolutely delighted to see all the opposition rounded up, imprisoned and shot.

"Hubby misses his intelligence briefings?"
Yes, it would seem he does. It helped him know what enemy nation to help out more, and to aid more so that our men on the ground could be killed more efficiently.

FYI, the last time I knew, members of Congress who sit on committees with access to classified info are NOT required to undergo the same backround checks others are required to before being allowed access.
To: mewzilla
I cannot believe that. If true, things are worse than I thought, and that's pretty bad.
To: mewzilla
members of Congress who sit on committees with access to classified info are NOT required to undergo the same backround checks others are required to before being allowed access. That's correct. However, it just means that those who provide the information have to be less-than-forthcoming with known security risks like her.
To: areafiftyone
Hillary needs to establish some bona fides on security for a presidential run. Look for her to mention this at every opportunity from now on when she is pressed on being weak on defence.

Is there a way to track e-mails, mailings, telephone contacts, or all other forms of communications in and out, that this very dangerous person may be engaged in?
I want authorities to get a phone tap order on this individual. At some appropriate future time, this individual should be taken into a closed room, shown the evidence thus collected, and offered the opportunity to resign from her position. If the offer is refused, then go public with all of the data, as to contacts, information exchanged, and strategies undertaken.

Well, remember her claims during the 92 election that she tried to join the USMC after college, but the recruiter told her she would be more effective fighting for freedom as a civilian lawyer? This is just Bubbette! finally getting to fulfill her lifelong goal of being in the military!
BTW,is there anybody on the planet who REALLY believes this Marxist cow wanted to join the USMC? WHY didn't somebody in the press question her about this,as well as her later claim during the 96 campaign that IF she and Bubba-1 were elected, she was thinking of having another baby.

A bit like trusting the fox to guard the henhouse, isn't it? Recreating the days when that communist agent William Fulbright was the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He had a lot of good secrets to pass on to America's enemies, and she is hoping for the same from the military committee.
To: areafiftyone
Maybe they'll catch her giving away secrets to our enemies. Wouldn't shock me in the least. It's like we've woken up in an Orwell novel.
Someone needs to be impeached from the Senate.
