Washington-AP) -- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will join the Senate Committee on Armed Forces.
Clinton, who has already been a member of the Budget and Environment committees, joins the Armed Forces Committee at a time when the United States military faces a possible war with Iraq, a nuclear standoff with North Korea, and the ongoing threat from al Qaida.
The committee's jurisdiction includes all the national security programs at the Department of Defense, as well as the nuclear programs at the Department of Energy.
She is the first New York senator to serve on the committee since it was formed in 1947.
Clinton said now she ``will be better able to support New York's military bases and ensure that New York's defense industry continues to play a significant role in fulfilling the needs of our armed forces.''
New York State is home to a number of important installations, including the military academy at West Point and Fort Drum, where the 10th Mountain Division trains.

President Bush's economic plan stops the Dems. in their tracks. Not-so-coincidentally, Bubba's NK pal calls Richardson. The press ignores our President's economic plan (and the real Clinton admin. NK history) to cover the Richardson-Berger-Albright act. The Senate minority Dems. - puffed up by this successful media-Clintonista end-run around the "will of the people" - decide that they'll keep ignoring the Nov. 2002 election, too. Meanwhile - on most major news networks - Dem. PR agents in the mainstream press are criticizing our President, pretending 'concern' for his dropping poll ratings, before running to take the next phone call from their masters at the DNC. The VLWC at it's most dishonorable.
Hillary and Bill having access to national secrets is unacceptable. It's time to enforce the Logan Act.

The only plan she has is for herself to get ahead. This is her ploy. I am telling you she has higher goals - Maybe Governor of New York State or the presidency. I cannot believe they would let a Junior Senator have that position. The Democreeps are up to something. Put the most vicious people on most important committees. Anything to keep power. They are disgustingly power hungry.

I just sent a donation to the NRSC and responded to their email to me confirming my contribution:
Please update your email. The election in La is long over. Also, tell the Republican Majority to grow some balls. I am very angry over what is happening in the Senate. When will the Republicans understand you can NOT negotiate with Democrats? We may have enemies overseas but we have more dangerous ones in the Senate. Also, how can the Republicans allow Hillary Clinton on the Armed Forces Committee? Her and her husband should be up on treason charges. I made this donation in hopes that it will do some good but alas unless we see the Republicans act like a majority, this will be the last donation I will make. Sincerely,

Okay, I admit it. I don't know what the Logan Act is. Could you please enlighten me?

I have just called 7 Senate offices, only one knew of the appointment and the others acted like I was a crackpot and wished I would get off the phone. Well, I don't think you're a crackpot, that's for sure. Thank you for testing the waters. Senate Republicans MUST BE BLIND if they don't see the danger here. I'm totally disgusted.

oh, man. Thanks for the warning. ;) Actually I'm curious enough to tune in, at least for a few minutes. It might be good for some laughs. I never went to college. I could call it my formal education.

Can you say screwed military? Of course Michael Savage suggests that if she does run, the BEAST will portray herself as an "iron lady" and act all supportive of even tougher measures for home security. This committeship would give her a good foundation for grandstanding... If she ever does get control of "home security" heaven help us.

I don't think they were counted last time either. Don't you wonder how any military person could continue to be a Democrat? Even after they are called Baby Killers, after their votes are purposely/illegally thrown out. I just don't get it.

Not many know about the Logan Act, but I think our wise founding fathers may have been thinking potential mischief-makers like the Clintons, Carter, Albright, J. Jackson, McDermott, Farrakhan, Richardson, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, AP reporters....(the fantasy helps, rather like the "Slap Hillary" website (^:):
Conducting Foreign Relations Without Authority: The Logan Act
Abstract: The Logan Act was intended to prohibit United States citizens without authority from interfering in relations between the United States and foreign governments. There appear to have been no prosecutions under the Act in its almost 200 year history. However, there have been a number of judicial references to the Act, and it is not uncommon for it to be used as a political weapon. Although attempts have been made to repeal the Act, it remains law and at least a potential sanction to be used against anyone who without authority interferes in the foreign relations of the United States.
