Grijalva invites Ashcroft to see vigilante 'justice'
ARIZONA DAILY STAR; Tuesday, January 14, 2003
U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva stepped up his campaign to crack down on vigilantes Monday by inviting Attorney General John Ashcroft to come to Southern Arizona to see the threat they pose to border security.
The Tucson Democrat told Ashcroft in a letter that the federal government's silence on the issue is "seen as giving official sanction to this racist movement, both by the perpetrators and victims of vigilante 'justice.' "
Ashcroft's voice, Grijalva added, "is needed now to make clear that private armed groups claiming law enforcement powers have no role in patrolling our border with Mexico."
Last week, shortly after he was sworn in, Grijalva called for a federal inquiry into the vigilante groups that have formed in response to the thousands of illegal immigrants who make their way across Arizona's border every year.
You are definitely a piece of work BlackElk. You have a very weird fixation on Skinheads, Aryan types, Klansmen and the rest of that ilk. Guess what? There ain't none of them here. The only time a couple of them showed up, they were given detailed instructions on how to find their way back to I-10 in the quickest fashion. We do not tolerate them here.
I openly identified myself as a member of American Border Patrol. At age 47, I am one of the younger members. A lot of our active patroling members are legally senior citizens. A lot of them are women -- and they still put themselves willingly in harm's way.
What does it take to convince you that we do NOT care what nationality crosses our border illegally? If the Pope tried to cross through here illegally, I'd turn his fanny in and I am Catholic.
You're sitting just a few miles southeast of Lake Wobegone country and you think you know what it's like here on the border? Give me an effin' break.
My (Mexican-)American co-workers are cheering me on because this affects them as well. How would you feel if you had Mexican ancestry but were afraid to let your mother drive alone from Sierra Vista to Douglas for fear that she could be car-jacked? How would you feel if your mother lived out of town and had suddenly developed a .44 Magnum fetish?
I will not surrender my freedoms just to accomodate a bunch of thugs.
Backing down and running is no fun anyway. And I sure as hell wont flee to some frozen, rainy, berg, as they will eventually show up there anyway.
The wuss out, is not even an option. The entire southwest is my home, and I too consider it my job to be in this fight. Besides, I hate cold climates and being bored.
LOL! Cross burning is not much of an event here, and I don't think there are any Klan marches scheduled. Heheheh.....
Weird. Maybe that's a big event in Illinois, or where ever he stays....Jezzz, I don't know....
That's very true along the border. All one needs to do is look at the career of Silvestre Reyes and why he was elected from a mostly Hispanic district. He only became known ---and very popular after he put Operation Blockade and Operation Hold the Line into place, and so was elected to Congress. People got sick and tired of being carjacked and mugged and having their homes broken into.
It doesn't and it should be very disturbing that government is trying to gain such a foot-hold in this country. If Fox, Grijalva or any of the others care anything about the Mexican citizens, why aren't they doing something different with the families in those photos? Why don't they work on who is murdering young women and girls from these poor neighborhoods? Where is the concern for their rights?
What Mexico wants is control of it's safety valve which is the US because the corrupt know the minute it's closed, their ability to make millions and billions of dollars comes to an end. They don't of course care about Mexico but they don't get the same deal in the countries they will exile in.
Contrast the Mexican five former presidents' yearly salaries of $5million each with these little homes made of discarded wood pallets (BTW---the government destroyed and confiscated the wood and didn't reimburse it's citizens even for that, some of them had $100-150 invested in those houses which they lost). Mexican former presidents make 10 times a year more than US former presidents ---and in a land where people are lucky to make $4.50 a day.
That is the biggest box car load of steaming bull feces that I have read in weeks.
It would happen without the US safety valve, that's what the Mexican government interest in immigration is really about. It's not even so much Aztlan or reconquista because all Mexican elites care about is the huge money they're making through their corrupt system. How many Mexican former presidents stayed on in Mexico after their term was over? And yet they get their big checks ---$5 million every year.
The sad thing is our own government takes the side of the corrupt and helps them prevent the establishment of a middle class over there, we definitely aren't promoting that which is what that country desperately needs.
Yeah, it was a quote by Grey Davis and a quote by Vincente Fox. Like I told you earlier, SPLC will mix some irrelevant stuff that's accurate (like those quotes) with ludicrous claims that it cannot substantiate If quoting political leaders constitutes racism to you, you need to re-evaluate your criteria.
It wasn't even close to what Black Elk is doing here. I genuinely wanted to get to the bottom of the claims against American Patrol - because unfortunately there are a few racialists like American Renaissance who are involved in the illegal immigration debate, and such folks are very detrimental to the cause. It caused a lot of consternation when I posted the SPLC charges against American Patrol, but by doing such two items were immediately refuted by other posters, and I found no substantiation for their claim that Spencer wrote a bigoted letter to the LA Times. So sunlight does work as a disinfectant, unless, of course, BlackElk, illumination of the truth is not your goal...
You keep stating this as proof that we cannot do anything against illegals. Were this the case, the federal government could not deport illegals. So, quite frankly, you're full of it - those rulings you cite can only practically apply to LEGAL immigrants. If a court were to rule that illegals were eligible for welfare, in a sane, federalist society the moment they applied for welfare and were determined to be illegal aliens, the INS would be notified, they would be apprehended and then deported - so they can be eligible all they want, they just won't be around to collect. Instead, state and local governments get around this by simply looking the other way and ignoring federal immigration law - an area where the federal government has clear, CONSTITUTIONAL authority.
That's it, jerk. Put up or shut up. Back up your statements with some facts not just our constant stream of bullsh**.
The ABP and CDP don't look for Mexicans, single out Mexicans, or even care if the border intruders are Mexican or not. An illegal is an illegal whether from Mexico, Guatemala, Afghanistan, or Yemen. They will treat them all equally - report them to the U.S. Border Patrol. If you have evidence otherwise, provide it or shut the hell up.
By the way, are those in Mexico who sternly and ruthlessly enforce and support their border laws - throwing Guatemalans and others in jail for illegally crossing their southern border - are they racist too in your twisted mind?
"The Mexican culture is based on deceit. Chicanos and Mexicanos lie as a means of survival. Fabricating false IDs is just another extension of that culture. Mexicans who have truly become American have shed themselves of this survival mechanism. They are not Chicanos and they are not Mexicanos."
Spencer is not questioning the ability of Mexicans to assimilate, as American Rensassiance and other bigoted groups do. He is making an observation of how things work in Mexico - and his statement is sympathetic, to the fact that in Mexico you cannot live honestly in a corrupt society. Ya ever been to Mexico? I've been there twice on business, and you can smell the corruption in the air. Do you live near the border? My parents do, and they've seen the exact issues that Spencer is talking about. So has my wife, who has been around this issue her entire life. The notion that immigrants to this country need to leave their old political systems behind that they were fleeing is hardly a new concept, and instead has been trashed by the liberals, mostly to try and trash THIS country's legal systems instead of elevating the culture of the immigrants. So your quote, when placed into context, is nowhere NEAR as significant as you make it out to be. I'll make another statement - black inner-city culture is much more prone to violence, mayhem and murder than the American baseline. Does that make me a bigot, too? Ain't much different from what Spencer said, so I guess you better ask JimRob to ban me as well.
Almost. He sure does have a lot of criminal defense attorneys and *self-employed* campaign contributors, doesn't he....
