Reading this article caused me to ask myself one question:

Did Pete actually write this article himself? (The composition, punctuation, etc. is extremely well done...something I question)

Bottom line = Pete got caught surfing for porn...and not a single, innocent episode, more then likely.

Well written article that "excuses" his behavior, but believeable? Methinketh NOT!

-Pete is from England... They get a better education in the subject of English than most of America. He is also an intelligent musician that wrote 3 rock operas. In my eyes, that would qualify him as at least a poet if not a writer... you should read his website sometime. He's a great writer and a standup type guy.

To assuage your suspicions with regards to his grammar, it may help to know that Townshend is an accomplished writer, actor, producer, and composer .

That said, innocent or guilty, his actions, by his own admission (using his credit card to access a web site), suggests that he 'forgot to pay his brain bill'.

As to your question of whether Townshend penned the piece himelf, I'd think the answer would be affirmative. He is employed as a commissioning editor for Faber and Faber, the book publishers and is an articulate, intelligent and well-read person.

When did surfing for porn become your business, my business, or the government's business? Neither you nor I can know first hand who wrote the letter. However, we do know who signed his name to it. Signing one’s name implies complete agreement with it.

A rush to judgment based on so very little verified information will serve no one, including you.

English students actually learn how to write, unlike their American counterparts. But our elementary students lead the world in knowledge of homosexuality and how peaceful is Islam.

Townshend's an intelligent man and a talented prose writer, who spent the latter part of the 80's working as an editor at an English publisher.

Check out the liner notes for "Quadrophenia" or "Odds and Sods". Or his review of "Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy" published in Rolling Stone way back when. Or his collection of short stories, "Horse's Neck".
