I wasn't aware of licensing requirements for dispensing tax advice. Is it against the law for me to do people's taxes for them?

Depends. If you sell your services as a means of avoiding ALL income taxes, based on a frivolous interpretation of the Internal Revenue Code, then you're setting yourself up for fraud charges--and you CAN be legally enjoined from continuing to defraud people.

Well duh, I wasn't replying to the lead post, but to another dude maintaining one needs to be licensed to prepare taxes.
