You know what?

I was talking about all this today with a great man who happens to have a very healthy view of women - someone confident in his masculinity, who knows how to treat them - and I realized that I need to run a scenario by you and give you an opportunity to amend what you said: "If she voluntarily starts then it's not rape no matter when she wants to stop."

Let's say you begin to have consentual sex with a woman. After a few minutes, you behave in ways she finds offensive and distasteful - you call her disrespectful names, for example. She decides she wants to stop and she tells you to. You don't. She starts to cry and she begs you to stop. You don't. You use physical force to continue having sex with her until you are finished.

What do you call that? (Keeping in mind the following.)

I stand corrected. In the scenario you outlined that would constitute rape. Since I never behave like that (in fact in my wilder days I have stopped in mid stream on occasion) I never considered the man acting ungentlemanly during the event.

Let me ammend my statement to say that if the woman starts it but then says to stop for no reason (that he caused) it should not be called rape. Otherwise every man who sleeps with a woman is guilty of rape if she so decides. We can't let that precedent be set without destroying the family in this country. (Why would any man voluntarily have sex with a woman if he knows that she could destroy him at a whim?)

And by the way, did they ever get the perp who raped and murdered your girlfriend?

To the best of my knowledge they did not. Apparently he had an accomplice (another girl) who was seen cashing her travellers checks but I don't think they ever caught him. I pray they both pay for the crime.
