I'm in Mass and the invasion has already started here. It's really everywhere, and will only escalate. We have relatives in Ohio, and they tell us the place is crawling with illegals...........

It reminds of people bitching about our "racist war against the Afghan people" last year and trying to explain to them how "the Afghan people" (along with the many Muslims) are white. It gets crazier all the time.

The question is, why is it only the more recent immigrants who come with these problems? I believe that a lot of it lies in the simple refusal to assimilate which I know is a bad word but it's what most people used to do when they came here. About Poles they are divided. One part wants to forget Poland as soon as possible, they even change their last names and do not want their children to speak Polish. The other group tries to preserve Polish identity, sends their children to Poland for vacation and enlists then to after-school Polish programs.
The first group tend to be ashamed of their origin and wants to blend in as soon as possible.
Both groups tend to have Polish cable TV, hmm...

"In Minneapolis a Latino group known as CLUES runs a distance-learning centre, set up with help from both the Mexican government and the state of Minnesota, that allows immigrants to follow a Mexican curriculum for high-school before testing for an American diploma."
Of what benefit is this to America?

Don't believe that BS........
Jorge Santibáñez, president of El Colegio de la Frontera Norte in Tijuana, Mexico, argues that geography also forces the mid-west's Mexicans to be more organised. Over time, he predicts, a split will open up in America's Mexican communities: those in Los Angeles and Texas will become ever more like Mexico, but the more isolated northern Mexicans around Chicago will integrate better.Take it from someone thats been to over 42 states......The first ones always seem to integrate better. But once there are hundreds of thousands of them, there is no damn reason to integrate, learn English, etc etc. This is the establised pattern everywhere.....LOL!
Cause for concern for those in the Midwest, certainly.

My wife's family, my sister-in-law's family as well as my Godparents (who are long gone) are all Polish-American and they all have hung on to their ethnicity but are culturally American. And I think, as a country, it's fine and beneficial to be multi-ethnic but we all need to share a common American culture.
For example, I'm of German and Italian extraction for the most part but my father, uncles, and cousins had no problem going to Europe to fight for the United States against Germans and Italians in the 40s. I'm not so sure a lot of people would do likewise now but I hope that I'm wrong about that.

The Chicago consulate now issues about 1,200 cards per dayTimes 250 working days is 300,000 a year. And that's just one city. Altogether, the population growth of the United States is being driven by Mexico.
Surely a policy of gradualist assimilation is better than immediately turning our society over to Mexican expatriates and hoping that they vote for a government less corrupt than the one they vote for back home.

Do you think the Muslims in this country are going to go go the mideast to fight for the United States against other muslims? -Tom

"The three major human races are white (Indo-Europeans like Indians, Iranians, Armenians, Kurds, Georgians, Greeks, Slavs, Germanic, Latins and Celts ..., Semites like Jews, Arabs and some others), then black - "brown" and "black" subgroups, yellow - mongoloids (Chines, Korean, Japanese, Siberian, American Indians, etc). Some minor groups I did not mention."
That's kind of how things were thought of until the mid-60's - then all of a sudden, brown people appeared calling themsleves Chicanos which we thought was funny in my high school because that had been a somewhat derogatory word for Mexicans. About the same time the Negroes started calling themselves "black" which we also thought was odd for the same reason. And the race thing just kind of proliferated from there. In the future, we'll all be our own race so we can start it all over again.

in the future i think we will all be a nice shade of gray.

I may be a bit prejudiced here but I believe some will but most won't and, again, I hope that I'm wrong.

You're not wrong, just optimistic.

I mean in some area of America, they routinely, proudly fly Mexican flags, and if they were truly fed up with the Mexican government, it would be fairly easy for them to over throw that corrupt government..But they haven't done that.

Not only money, we have run out of low end, slave labor jobs. That's why the exodus of illegals is no longer to California, but to all points east and north. This was predictable, long ago...
