Pro-Pot Group Challenges Bush Marijuana Policy (BARF ALERT)
Focus On The Family

A pot-legalization group is taking on the White House over marijuana.
A group that wants to see marijuana legalized is angry with the Bush administration because they say the government is being too critical of pot.
The issue all started with a letter from Scott Burns, the deputy director of the Office of National Drug Control. In the letter, Burns told district attorneys across the country that they must better educate the public about marijuana use.
Keith Stroup, who heads up the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), claims the administration is going over the top suggesting that marijuana is the biggest drug threat in America.
"We're simply going to call them on this lie," Stroup said. "The Bush administration, for some reason, is in the process of ignoring the real drug problems we face and instead focusing their entire anti-drug apparatus on responsible marijuana smokers."
But Burns said it's time to get serious about the problem.
"It's something that the administration, I believe, has an obligation to talk about," Burns said.
He added that in some parts of the country heroin is the biggest problem. In other parts, it's cocaine. But the common thread is marijuana.
"We can't ignore marijuana," Burns said. "Sixty percent of the folks addicted to drugs in this country are using marijuana. If we don't talk about it and talk about it loudly, we're ignoring two-thirds of the problem."
As for his letter to prosecutors to raise awareness about marijuana, he said the response has been sobering.
"I've received calls from prosecutors all across the country who have said, 'I didn't know,' " Burns said.
That is precisely the reason for the letter: to make sure everyone knows that the problem is getting worse every day.

Marijuana, on the other hand, acts on the body in a very different way. Marijuana's psychoactive ingredient, THC, is strongly fat soluble but cannot dissolve in water or in blood. THC is stored for many weeks in the fatty tissues of the body. THC is extremely slow acting. THC is one million times more potent than alcohol, but appears to be mild because very little reaches the brain during the "high" and, unlike alcohol, doesn't leave a hangover. Why are you posting totally discredited gutter science? The only thing left in the body's fatty tissues after 1 or two passes through the liver are the inert metabolites of THC. It is no longer psychoactive and, in fact, is no longer THC, but rather CBN (cannabinol) and is non-psychoactive.
When marijuana is smoked regularly, THC accumulates in body fat. The THC is slowly fed back into the blood, and the user gradually slips into a state of continual sedation. In time, the steady presence of THC in the blood damages the brain, the lungs, the immune system, the chromosomes, the hormones, the reproductive system, and sexual development. The frequent pot user becomes passive and devoid of personal ambition.
I haven't seen such crapola in I don't know how long.
1. THC is not fed back into the blood because there is no more THC. As above, it's CBN.
2. There is zero evidence that the inert metabolites from processing THC cause any damage, in any form or manner, to the chromosomes, sexual development, hormones or the immune system.
Please check your sources (and their science) before posting tripe and looking the fool.

Was that letter published in Shotgun News?
That was the clearest argument I've seen as to how the WOD adversely affects the Second Amendment and should be a concern to all gunowners.

I lifted it from another poster a couple of years ago.
I thought the same thing you did, and saved it.
I'm not sure but I believe it was published.

"...if it's for fun."
These drug threads have the appeal of a bear and bull match.
Unfortunately, too many of the more 'dramatic' participants have vanished. Some of them were real crowd=pleasers....
Remember Fred25...or even VA Avocado...;^)
Ah well, we'll turn Mr. Spun into a fighting beast yet! ;^)
Just kidding. I don't think you really want to be on Roscoe and CJ's squad.

Call me the Human Torch... "Flame on!" Fair enough!
Reasoned debate should make up the bulk of posts, IMO, but wouldn't this be a dull place without an occasional searing, scorching flame!

The People have the freedom to legislate against narcotics, says the 10th Amendment Actually, the People have the freedom to ingest or refrain from ingesting what they will. The several States have the authority to require that people not become intoxicated (on ANY substance) in public places or to drive or otherwise present a public danger while under the influence of any substance. No more. Churches and families have the authority to preach or rail against use of ANY intoxicant. FedGov has ZERO Constitutional authority in this (or most any OTHER) arena. Sorry, you lose again. How unsurprising.

I am really not sure just what public schools are putting into your minds these days, but your equating pot with opium is absurd. Pot is NOT supplied by the Afghans, it is more likely to be home-grown or supplied by Mexico or similar places. These are hardly terrorist countries. Furthermore, most mid-eastern opium goes to Europe, not to the U.S. You are more likely to support terrorists when you purchase gasoline, as the Saudis are a major supplier of both oil to us and funds to terrorist groups. Please study harder. Maybe you can become educated despite the public school (government propaganda camp) system.

Yep, those "Rights to... Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of the Perfect High." I shudda remembered that! -- the right to any property ever in existence.
All I gotta say is that if a free-baser burns up his house, he better stay in it, cause there'll be public out in the street watching it burn!

Considering your natural paranoia (about evil Libertarians using this forum as a "retruiting station"), I'd say it's just as well that you don't smoke ganja. You see, THC tends to exaggerate whatever innate (or even learned) tendencies you already have, and your paranoia could very easily spiral out of control to the point where a straight-jacket and heavy narcotics might be necessary to keep you under control. I repeat, for the benefit of us all: Don't smoke pot. ....and it goes without saying that you should stay away from drugs like shrooms, peyote, or acid.
Leave the ganja smoking the the more mentally stable among us. ...the folks who could handle it.
