How else can we explain the jury's verdict?
According to the article, the cops originally blamed the accident on the two kids, then reversed the coverup after there was an outcry. Two different findings, same accident. That's enough to plant reasonable doubt in a reasonable juror's mind. The blame here goes to the cops who decided to look out for one of their own rather than pursue the truth.
