Yes. Blix said there is no smoking gun but plenty of circumstantial evidence.
It is reported as if Blix has stated there is no evidence.

That "smoking gun" phrase was a misstatement by Blix -- he should know better than to dangle such a participle in front of sophomores. But the blame is on those wannabee literary masters in the media who are failing to report the story accurately; also, those same media presenters will likely be reduced to incoherent stammering when the real story comes out via the more intelligent radio personalities: Rush, Bohannon, Laura, Savage, Beck, . . ..

Am I confused about this, or isn't the very fact that they haven't found anything a sign that he is in breach? I mean, they really aren't looking FOR anything, are they, aren't they looking for SIGNS that he HASN'T destroyed the WMD?
And if there is a war, and if he used chemicals, wouldn't that be the absolute living proof we need that he's lying?

if there is a war, and if he used chemicals, wouldn't that be the absolute living proof we need It would be too late as far as disarming Saddam is concerned. It would prove the assertion, but no one would care by that time.
If Saddam wants such weapons, the kinds of weapons that saved him from being overrun by Iran, that saved him from being overrun by Kurdish mothers and schoolchildren, that save him from being overrun by primitive, illiterate, swamp-dwellers from the south, there is no way to keep such weapons from him aside from invasion. The UN can debate the issue after the Coalition has taken care of the problem.

U.S. Ambassador John Negroponte called on Iraq to admit to weapons programs "it maintains, even today."
"Anything less is not cooperation and will constitute further material breach," Negroponte said, using diplomatic language that could pave the way for war.
Yeah I bet old SalamiDong is shakin' in his boots as we unload more "diplomacy" BS. Just pull the damn inspectors , Leave Blix, Bono, Sean Penn and all the rest of the bleating heart liebrals over there and Let's Roll!!!

Syria's U.N. Ambassador Mikhail Wehbe reads a statement outside the United Nations (news - web sites) Security Council after a briefing on the U.N weapons inspectors' findings on Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at United Nations headquarters in New York. We have to give enough time for the inspection to finish their goals according to the 1441 resolution, said Wehbe, the only Arab member on the council. (AP Photo)

Oh but... but... we have to hear what Bono has to say about Bush starving the Iraqi children first . And how we are going to spend millions of dollars on a war when we there are children starving in Africa.
Actually we should start bombing when he is in Iraq. Bush made a big mistake saying anything nice about this jerk - Bono is going to turn on him.

During Blix's briefing to the Security Council, he said Iraq had admitted in its weapons declaration to importing missile engines and raw material for the production of solid missile fuel. "This import has taken place in violation of the relevant resolutions regulating import and export to Iraq." But did he say which countries Iraq had imported these materials FROM???
Who is helping Iraq?

And people make fun of those of us who keep a roll of reynold's wrap conveniently located near the TV...now I gotta get a roll to store in my glove compartment.
I recently saw a movie or show on tv where two little kids were wearing tin foil hats. I about busted a gut laughing. Wish I could remember where I saw that......
