Actually, the particular threat I was thinking about came because a family wished to move to another church after the Church failed to remove a known pederast. They were told that they did not have "permission" and would not be allowed to attend the other church. I believe that they have now found a better, Protestant, church that actually believes 1 Co 5.

I know for a fact that the same tendencies were there in liberal Protestant churches, it was all one big party. And today there are no bigger promoters of legalized abortion than the mainline Protestant churches.

Even if I grant everything you say, so what! I don't associate with pederasts as I happen to believe 1 Co 5:13 and I don't attend a church that "promotes" abortion.

Do you have any proof for this assertion? There is nothing that stops someone from switching churches. It happens all the time. What are they going to do, lock the doors?
