Living in Arizona back in the eighties was the closest thing to paradise you could get. The cost of living was relatively cheap, there were miles of wide open spaces with a pristine environment, and best of all it wasn't crowded. So it strikes me as odd an open borders group would be concerned about the environment. It seems contradictory to me.
