I am all for supporting LEO's .......but this crossed the line....all the officers on the scene need to be FIRED and this family needs to sue that county and the State of Tenn. until they are bleed dry..
Imagine your family pet being shot in cold blood right before your eyes..

After watching the video, the LEO's have absolutely no regard for the dog whatsoever.
All that had to be done to avoid having an animal loose along side the interstate was for someone to close the car doors. A simple act of common sense that any person of reason would be able to deduce.
Would the THP and Cookeville police department be singing a different tune about their officer's actions had the dog bounded into traffic and caused a fatal traffic accident? I doubt it.

Imagine your family pet being shot in cold blood right before your eyes..This seems so uncalled for, the police need better training and to realize they are public servants.

I know what would happen, despite the extremity of it, and the result would be a cop explaining why he discharged his weapon at a dog and then at a man.
That cop needs to be made a school crossing guard.

LEO's long ago demonstrated they are for the most part, unconstitutional and power-mad thugs with guns.
I shed few tears when I read about their deaths in no-knock drug raids.

That video was absolutely sickening. The heartbreak in the owners' voices is haunting, and every dog owner can full understand the extent of that heartbreak.
One thing we can all do to protect our dogs, when taking them in a vehicle, is to restrain them in some way. The best way is a fiberglass or wire dog kennel, or crate.
These devices can actually shield the animal in a crash, and at the least will keep the dog from escaping if the driver is incapacitated in some way. It's not a bad idea to have your name and contact info, as well as your Veterinarian's contact info on the dog's crate.
Countless dogs are killed, not in the wreck, but after they escape from the car, then run into traffic.

After examining the video several times, this is worse than I expected. This was a small dog, and it didn't appear threatening. This family dog was unnecessarily executed, right in front of it's owners.
And after the idiot shot the dog to death, I am surprised that the other officers didn't start shooting the family members, as all the leos on the scene jumped upon hearing the shotgun blast.
Totally insane......

a Lawyer.

And the "good" citizen who made the cell call the police know who he/she is
