Hopefully we will no longer have some conservatives complaining that Bush will appoint a bunch of liberal justices or he's no different from Gore, but we probably will.

I must admit that I am very much surprised that he renominated Pickering. I thought for sure he would not have the balls to do this. Honestly, I was disappointed that he did not support Pickering stronger by making him a recess appointment.

This news has lifted my hopes, a bit, that his plodding consistancy will proove to be the right strategy.

Basically, I've never bought into W. or Pappy Bush. W.'s weak personal history, the fake Texas accent, the way he holds his wrists, the one-way obsession with loyalty (remember Linda Chavez), campaign finance reform, the farm bill, the ineffective "war on terror," etc. BUT, renominating Pickering and Owen (even after Trent Lott seemed to ditch Pickering on the Black tv show) really shows something. And it takes chutzpah to propose eliminating the double tax on dividends. Let's all be optimistic: 2003 could turn out to be the year that W. finally proves himself.
