I was 12 and 13 in junior high(7th & 8th grades). This incident appears to be just one more in a long line of problems for this girl.

A Jr High, unlike a Middle School, is 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. 14/15 is the correct age for a 9th grader.

Where I grew up (and my family still lives) they have 9th grade campuses that are still referred to as Middle School / Jr High.

In many areas, junior high covers grades 7 through 9. If a child's birthday falls after September, they need to wait until the next school year to begin school even if they will be turning school age that school year. So it isn't uncommon to have 15 year olds in 9th grade.
