Look, Bush was my FOURTH choice. My first choice was Forbes. Two others went by the wayside as well. Quite frankly, I had doubts. I became a convert, if you will.

I don't see it as a repeat of the Kennedy-Camelot myth, because in this case, there is a lot more substance to it. Part of it is buyer's remorse that took eight years to sink in. Part of it is the class that George W. Bush has shown during the campaign - despite a lot of personal attacks from the Dems and the Left. A big part of it was the way Bush handled 9/11 and is handling the war.

The other misconception you labor under is that you think Bush wants such a mythology - I don't think he EVER wanted it. Far from it. I'm not even sure that George Bush Sr. ever wanted a dynasty. You cannot say the same about Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., who was pretty open about wanting a dynasty, and who had a decided lack of class.

I don't know whether Bush wants anything. At one point he even expressed indifference about wanting to be president. It's what people determined to create an idol and mesiah out of him are doing is the problem.
