Ask why these Greenie idjits won't allow the sale of diesels in the SUVs? Outside North America, you can get Jeeps and such with fuel efficient diesels. It is the evirowackos themselves, who have prevented the sale of more fuel efficient SUVs which are available today. BTW, a number of small SUVs get very good mileage.

The fundamental problem with large-engine vehicles is that engines operate efficiently only when producing maximum power for their revolution rate. If the vehicle doesn't need as much power as the engine can produce, it's necessary to throttle down the engine; this reduces the output power substantially more than it reduces fuel consumption, thus reducing fuel efficiency.

I've read of some proposals to implement variable-displacement engines which should mitigate this factor. Do you think any of those have any promise?

Uh...don't we who have cars use gas for those cars? Did I miss something somewhere? While my car doesn't use as much gas as an SUV, I still do a lot of driving around. Does that mean I'm contributing to terrorists' coffers by putting gas in my car and driving it?

This anit-SUV crap is starting to really annoy me. I plan on buying an SUV the next time I buy a vehicle. The more these idiots spew their SUV-hate speech, I hope it encourages more Americans to buy SUVs.

Got to tell the military to stop using Hummer's. Got to tell Ted Kennedy to park that huge Chevy Suburban he rides his butt around in and most of all tell Al Gore not to lease 34 Chevy Tahoe's for his campaign staff the next time he runs for national office.

I am waiting for someone to make a comment on anything I may be driving. I would say that anyone using a larger vehicle is paying through the nose in state and federal taxes to do it.
