New 17 inch PowerBook G4 priced at $3299. Will be shipping them in February.
iLife is being made available on Saturday, January 25th.
Digidesign Pro Tools for OS X mentioned -- will ship this month.
Burton will introduce a snowboarding/skiing jacket with pouch and integrated controls on the sleeve. $499, Apple online store exclusive for this season. "Very limited edition."
iCal and iSync: 1.1 million downloads of iCal since release. Has spawned third-party calendar download sites. iSync "really important strategic application" because it synchronizes calendar to PDAs, cell phones, etc. "You'll be hearing a lot more ... in the coming year."
Yawn, same ol, same ol. Lot's of announcements, little to ship. Guaranteed to freeze all product at dealers.
Steve and Apple move deeper into niche territory.
Wasn't Ellen Feiss the 'girl who saved Christmas' in the parade of losers commercials?
A niche that is making money, by the way.
No, Ellen Feiss was the one that looked like a stoner College Democrat. Janie Porche saved Christmas.
Yawn, same ol, same ol. Lot's of announcements, little to ship. Guaranteed to freeze all product at dealers.
Um, the only items mentioned that have older versions sitting on shelves already are the PoewrBooks. And every Mac user (in other words, the people watching the keynote) know damn well to never plunk down for a new system within a month or two of a Macworld.
As are many niches. Congrats to Steve for showing a profit. Hardly news and not deserving of a pep rally.
It's real obvious that you don't get it.
My point exactly. After more than 20 years, Jobs has still not figured out how to sell product 12 months of the year.
I hope this maintains
compatibility with
current tin foil hats...
Well, my (apparently unclear) point was that the guy off the street isn't going to know any better until the new PowerBooks show up in his store. Besides, the old PowerBooks are already being sold with "BLOWOUT Pricing!" And the old ones are already gone from the online Apple Store. (Except for the 15.2" one, which they're not discontinuing yet.)
I'm amazed my 17" flat-screen iMac still is! I figured they'd for sure do something with it like bump up the processor or something. I guess now I still have six more months to be state-of-the-art, but I'll bet I pay for in seeing a much more radically changed iMac come July or August or whenever this summer's Expo is.
Ditto for the iPods.
Jealousy is a terrible thing.
The comment I hear most at work (where Macs are an underground platform) is:
How did you do that!?
Ha ha! Yup. Just like the RATS. If you dare to have a differing opinion on the supreme upsurpassable BRILLIANCE of Windows and Intel, the knives come out. Even if you fully respect their own OS opinions, they don't care. They must hurt you to feel better about themselves.
