YOu are right, settling it in the courts would be a major mistake.

Excuse?

If other people who live outside this country...who at one time WORKED in this country (and contributed to the SS fund)....... and are now collecting their SS benefits under current treaties with the countries in which they now reside...... is the norm......WHY would you deny the same to Mexicans who worked/lived under the same circumstances? Simply due to a the lack of a treaty ratifying same for Mexican workers?

Or are you suggesting that because they are Mexicans, who contributed to the SS fund while working in this country, they are NOT entitled to collect those benefits?

I need to see an actual proposal, not the interpretation of a rumor reported by the Washington Post.

We just had the President ask for a complete abolishment of the dividend tax, even though both the New York Times and the Washington Post told us the administration was scaling it back to 50%.

The liberal media, aided and abetted by axe-grinders like Chuck Baldwin, know how to yank conservatives' chains. I would suggest you contact your congressman or senators and ask them what bill or EO this is in. I will bet you it isn't there.

Nobody is entitled to the social security ponzi schem( im 21 now I'd have to be on some pretty serious s*** to ever imagine I will ever collect social security) however we can't get rid of it since the old farts vote. However since Mexicans don't vote they should be written off.

Thanks for the post. I hope it's not lost on everyone that the our gov't. is willing to include time worked in Mexico for calculating proposed benefits! How could that type of insanity ever be verified and could we ever believe anything coming from the Mexican gov'ts. Labor dept.? Also, is it plausible that a Mexican who worked here a while and maybe contributed a few thousand will end up collecting tens of thousands in benefits? Man, whatever old Foxy is holding over JR's head, whew....must be a beaut!

I don't even know how to respond to someone who states, "...however we can't get rid of it since the old farts vote."

You owe a hell of a lot to 'the old farts', son.

How supremely, and childishly arrogant of you.

As for the ponzi scheme, I agree. I also support partial privitization. That is NOT to say, that those who paid in are not entitled. If we do it for other legal aliens, then legal alien Mexicans qualify. I think you are exhibiting a bias against Mexicans. Again...a telling fact about you.

who at one time WORKED in this country

What about all those AMERICANS who only worked in this country who never get Social Security but paid into to it all their lives and are still paying into it but didn't retire at 62? My Dad can't get "his" Social Security because he's still working.

Social Security is a welfare program ---not a bank account that you put your money in and take your money out. We can't provide welfare for the whole world just because they might want in on it ---it would really be better for the Mexicans if they're so foolish to make their own Social Security program if they want one.

And how do the Mexicans differ from other legal aliens around the world who are collecting SS benefits because they paid into the system while working in the USA?

And where did I say that SS was a bank account? And WHY should your father collect from a program that was supposed to 'ease' or supplement his retirement IF HE HASN'T retired yet?

I guess my American father should just pay so someone in a foreign country CAN retire at 62? I would prefer we eliminate Social Security completely ---we already can't afford it and that's without all the Mexicans on it ---and if we give it to them, then all the Guatemalans, Hondurans, Brazilians etc should want it too.

If being a hard working person with a work ethic blocks you from getting "your" social security, it would seem that not being an American and not living in the US could also block you from getting it.

Hard working Americans (and I am one) who do NOT qualify for SS benefits due to the fact THEY ARE STILL WORKING, are upset because they can't work AND draw their SS benefits?

What am I missing here?

What about all the freebies that the illegals get?... the welfare, food stamps, health care, free schooling, housing, et al. OH, I get it, they will get freebies PLUS the Social Security benefits.

Are we Americans allowed all of this free stuff too? I know the answer to that.

I think you missed the point there are MANY in MANY foreign countries collecting SS benefits. It's already happening.

Or is it just those in spanish-speaking countries you object to?

I agree with Thomas Jefferson, returning any paltry "contributions" they would have made is more than fair. If the law entitles them to anything more than that, it should be changed reference illegals from Mexico or anywhere else.

Regards.

I think we all know that there are many millions of illegals from Mexico who will also claim they are entitled to receive Social Security using the exact same justification ----they "paid into it" even if that meant they used a stolen Social Security card. If paying into it justifies participation in welfare programs then they're also entitled to food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare and all the rest if they ever paid any taxes while working here. I think we should scrap Social Security and maybe this will be Bush's way to do that because certainly we can't afford it when it's extended to millions of more people. How many of us are in a position to pay huge increases in Social Security taxes?
