Typical of the man[?] At about 6 shows per week for 8 weeks that equals $24,000 which the Brits probably tax at a reasonably socialistic welfare state rate of 50-60%. Of course once he returned to the US, he could offset those tax payments against his US Income Tax, so it is not like he went into the hole unless he chose to stay at a deluxe hotel where he could be pampered by the staff. $24,000 is about £15,000. If that was his only UK earnings for the year, and he was paid weekly, the total income tax and national insurance (equivalent of social security ) deducted would be £2,451 ie 16.34% of the gross pay. It's not quite so bad here as some of you think.
