Historians will NEVER say that Christ died for our sins.Historians will NEVER say that Christ was resurrected.Geeze, do you flip out whenever you see a Discovery Channel special that doesn't mention either of these? Woody.

Heretical, certainly. Not sure if it is blasphemy, is it contemptuous? Woody.

Flip Out - As in screaming "Blasphemy!" whenever a Historian talks about the political situation during the time of Christ, and saying that's why he was executed, rather than His dying for our sins.

I know its a theory. I spent time in France near where all this took place - Rennes Le Chateau, and I had no idea about the story at that time.

The conclusion is that there are, alive today, linial descendants of Jesus, born to him by his wife...Mary Magdalene. ~ agincourt1415 Woody.

Have you not read one thing I've posted? Baigent et al DO NOT PRESENT THEIR FINDINGS AS FACT. I can't make it any clearer than that.

If you're not presenting facts, no, darling, you are NOT teaching.

If you found Holy Blood, Holy Grail fascinating, you will also enjoy The Second Messiah, particularly the report on the capture and torture of Jacques de Molay.

Suggest "Born in Blood" by Robinson. An excellent history with terrific research.

Your synopsis indicates that if you indeed read the books, you didn't retain much.

I politely suggest you reread (or read for the first time), "Born in Blood". The Author, Robinson, was an excellent historian and scholar and no, wasn't a Mason when he researched and wrote the book.

Wow. A cheap insult. Never thought I'd see that on FR. Go snipe at someone else.

I have read Holy Blood, Holy Grail and found it both fascinating and informative. The whole history of Rennes-le-Chateau, Knights Templar, and the Sang real made for quite titillating reading. The authors made an interesting and original argument for their hypothesis.

Oh yeah, and I didn't lose my faith, either. Try reading The Vicars of Christ sometime... now that book will shake yer faith but good.

Yes, stick to the Bible, a book that teaches about talking snakes, forbidden fruit, magic gardens, demons, and an invisible man who lives in the sky.

The concept of other intelligences besides one's own (i.e. the existence of other minds) is a rather problematic one - cf. Plantinga's exchange with Mackie on this topic.

Many Christians are of the opinion that the talking snake, the forbidden fruit and the garden of Eden are symbolic representations. Cf. Origen, et al.

At no point does the creation account say that God lives "in the sky". It says that He dwells outside of the world that He created.

Hey Woody - have you read the book in question? Or are you labeling it blasphemy based on what someone else has told you about it?
