...there are calls for the total ban to be made even more total: if the gangs refuse to obey the existing laws, we'll just pass more laws for them not to obey.

Well that just about says it all in one sentence.

It's funny how politicians believe that a five-year sentence will be a deterrent to someone dealing drugs where the life expectency is about five months...

It's easier, like Mr Blair, just to go "total": blame everyone, ban everything.

As Rush always says, if you want to know what a Liberal will do in any given situation, just think of the most gutless alternative, and that's what they'll do.

"the police and politicians lapsed into their default position: it's your fault. We couldn't do anything about him, so we'll do something about you." ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC

Excellent article! Gives a whole new meaning to "If you make guns illegal, only criminals will have guns"

Walther PPK p>I have one that my exFather-In-Law Liberated, when he was liberated fon a Stalag Luft in 1945, nice toy, 9mm is for amatures.

Bye the way he is a great guy, shot down over Sweinfurt(sp) in 1943, dislikes my ex almost as much as I do.

So many good one liners: the best way to deal with criminals is to impose ever greater restrictions and inconveniences on the law-abiding.

Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise....
Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency....
Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical hatred for guns....

when you issue warnings that they should "walk on by" if they happen to see a burglary or rape in progress

Is that for real?

So many good one liners:..

There certainly are. I particularly like;

" The corpulent provocateur Michael Moore, in his film Bowling for Columbine,...
.....Americans kill at about the same rate as nancy-boy Canadians.

Well written and a worthy read.

Walther PPK

Yeah the .380 is not exactly a sure stopper, but it certainly packs more punch than a fist or a rolled-up newspaper. I have a Makarov that's almost the same as the PPK with more punch and, IMHO, more class :)

The corpulent provocateur Michael Moore, in his film Bowling for Columbine, currently delighting British audiences, spends an entire feature-length documentary investigating the "culture" of American gun violence without mentioning that blacks, who make up 13 per cent of the population, account for over half the murders (and murder victims, too). Once you factor them out, Americans kill at about the same rate as nancy-boy Canadians.

Whoop! There it is.

In my part of New Hampshire, we're all armed to the hilt and any gangster who fancied holding up a gas station would be quickly ventilated by guys whose pick-ups are better equipped than most EU armies.

Sounds like my Idaho!! Great Mark Steyn article, as always.

We've known this for years: If you remove "black-on-black" crime, the US has a low crime rate.

Even lower, if you remove "black-on-white" crime.

I'm not sure of the cause, but crime statistics have shown this for years.
