What good would that do? I never cease to be amazed at "conservatives'" belief in the supernatural powers of a government-issued marriage license. These "dads" would behave exactly the same way they do now, after having such a license bestowed on them. Just as civilized fathers who live with and help raise and support their children would keep right on doing so if the government stopping issuing/recognizing these licenses, and/or began issuing them to any and every assortment of two or more adults who plunked down the license fee.
Gee, let's see. If they were married, there would be consequences involved if they got a divorce. That's one of the side effects of the "supernatural" powers of marriage. I'm sure you've heard of a few examples.
