The scene in the The Thin Red Line of our troops overrunning the Japanese camp was one of the most realistic combat scenes I've seen on film. The constantly changing scene in front of you, with dangers popping up on all sides, was very realistic. As with all large battles, the one on one struggle, one at a time, ultimately determines the outcome, and that scene did a good job depicting the absolute pandemonium and orgy of killing for survival and running on adrenalin that occurs in that situation.

Something else I liked about The Thin Red Line was their leaving Colonel Tall as an ambiguous character. His motives were askew but was he wrong?
