If Saddam really wanted to toss a curve to GW, he would leave and hand over power to his younger son. This would put GW in a bad situation to continue his campaign and the Saddam plan could continue ontrack. If you remember correctly, GW and the adminstration simply said that Saddam has to go. I suspect that Saddam has figured out that life in Libya isn't too bad and his younger son is quiet capable of running business. GW would be forced to agree with the situation while they build more WMD.

If Saddam handed over power to his son how would that make the sitaution any different? Same regime...same problem. At this point its too late and Saddam can do nothing but anticipate his virgins in heaven.
If we don't kill Saddam the Iraqi people will.

I think he's going to announce that he's stepping down, and that Hillary is taking over.

I thought the stipulation was a full regime change. I do not think that the curnet administration would accept his son taking over.

I've also heard Pres. Bush say the "weapons of MASS destruction" must go, also....not JUST Saddam.

Interesting scenario, but I don't think simply handing the country over to his son or one of his other henchmen would constitute "regime change."
