Connie showed an old picture of Schlafy (70's?), where she was standing in the rotunda of the ILL. capitol, holding a
bull-horn, with tons of signs behind here, protesting against I.R.A. The pix is excellent as the photographer also captured the height of the rotunda - I think they said 300 feet.

She is credited with almost single-handedly stopping the Equal Rights Amendment from getting passed and like she said, she did it without ever spending a night away from home.
She's a true Iron Butterfly. And I love the way she handbagged (a la Margaret Thatcher) the left-wing callers.
