My husband and I were talking about that yesterday -- whether or not a clone would have a soul. We decided probably not, but is there a definitive answer?

All they are trying to do, is to create an individual who has the EXACT same genotype as the 'Mother.'

The clone will NOT look like the 'Mother' (phenotypically) and will NOT have any mental or consciousness connection to the 'Mother.'

In theory, it would just be a regular, unremarkable baby who has the same genotype as the 'Mother.' Some of the discussions I have seen about this sound like they are inspired by a third-rate science fiction flick.

The larger problem, IMHO, is what happens to all the failed attempts. I can't speak to the potential deformities that might be caused by the process they are using, but according to the experiments on animals, I am afraid to think of the 'errors' that will happen along the way.

I guess that remains to be seen. And if we insist on playing "god" then the answer may end up being a real shocker!
