CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) -- The Rev. Al Sharpton challenged Senate Democrats to call for a censure of Sen. Trent Lott when Congress convenes Tuesday.

Sharpton, the civil rights leader who says he is running for president, called on Senate Democrats who also are eyeing White House bids to seek a censure of the Mississippi Republican.

Lott resigned as Republican leader after being criticized for his Dec. 5 comments supporting Strom Thurmond's 1948 segregationist presidential campaign.

Such a vote is unlikely given the Republican takeover of the Senate, but Sharpton said the Democrats should take a stand, and he called Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle's initial acceptance of Lott's comments a "morally cowardly act."

Well I don't like nor trust Jackson, but I'm thinking there might be a reason why they are attending ..

So before I comment any further .. I think I would like to hear with Powell has to say first, before I make a final judgement
