Absolutely--making shooting people a crime will stop all those people who weren't likely to shoot someone anyway from shooting someone. Plus it will definitely show Jonathon and Margaret Teatime that their government is actively working to look out for their interests with measures which have great symbolic value. Next up -- suspend that dreary "probable cause" thing. Lawful citizens have no need of it anyway, now do they?
