Edwards may have smooth talked some juries, and North Carolina voters, but he was very unimpressive on the May Meet the Press. I expected 'smooth' from such a successful trial lawyer, but saw none of it.

He'll never make it to the finals.

Edwards' support slips in latest Elon University Poll
Less than half of North Carolinians approve of the job U.S. Senator John Edwards is doing on Capitol Hill, while a majority of citizens are paying little attention to the upcoming Senate race to replace Jesse Helms.

Those are among the findings of a new Elon University Poll, conducted
April 15-18 by the Elon Institute for Politics and Public Affairs. The poll sampled the opinions of 648 adults in the state and has a margin of error of ± 3.9 percent.

Only 43 percent of North Carolinians approve of the job Edwards is doing in the Senate, down significantly from a February Elon Poll which measured his approval rating at 53 percent, and an October Elon Poll which gave him a 57 percent approval rating. Enthusiasm was also low for a potential White House bid by Edwards, with just 41 percent of citizens indicating their support.

"The lack of support Edwards is receiving in his home state for a possible presidential nomination is somewhat surprising," says Sharon Spray, assistant professor of political science and director of the Elon University Poll. "But Edwards has not received a lot of publicity at home for his accomplishments in Washington. He has received a great deal of attention recently indicating he spends a lot of time outside Washington. People may think that he is not spending enough time doing what they expect him to do as a senator," says Spray.

Fantastic as always!

Interesting...prior to the 2002 elections I had noticed that every person indicating a possible interest in running for President in 2004 had some kind of a black mark by their name brought to the attention of the media. I have long suspected Hillary! is behind this.

Just as Edwards announces his candidacy we have major news on doctors in the south going "on strike" due to the exhorbitant medical malpractice insurance costs. A lot of what I listened to tonight had to do with tort reform and how the American people are the ones suffering from these incredibly high premiums due to lawsuits.

Also mentioned was that 2/3 of most settlements go to the trial lawyers which does not sit well with the American people.

As more doctors join this "strike" this will become bigger news.

I wonder what Hillary's up to these days? Hmmmmm.....

You should be down here! All the web sites have "special" sections just about Edwards and his run for the White House. Endless video. Gawd, it's awful.

I suspect the Clintons are feeding tidbits about her potential opponents to the press.

Now, suppose nothing bad comes out about Edwards. What will that tell you?

Your point is well-taken. However, Edwards is a liberal who can convince OTHER PEOPLE that he is not. Some candidates, like Kerry, are OBVIOUSLY liberal; it oozes from every hair follicle of his being. But Edwards is a smooth talker who needs to have his record exposed.

I would, however, drop the references to "not ready for prime time." President Bush's first public speech, here in Indianapolis, was decidedly underwhelming, and in fact made me hesitate about backing him in the primaries until I saw him on the campaign trail on C-SPAN.

The more the Rats get to fighting with each other the better off we will be, however.

As far as Edwards cases, they are probably above board or we would have heard something different before now. If he won a case for a poor, put-upon victim of malpractice, good for him and his client. That has NOTHING to do with competence for the Presidency.

The Doctors up north in PA are pretty close to walking out also .. They were going to but Fast Eddie came up with some BS and asked to have a committe put together to work it out

Well Fast Eddie seems to think the State can chip in and help the doctors pay for their insurance somehow

But it doesn't solve the problem .. the bad law suits will keep coming and the bill will get passed onto us

So in the end .. the doctors and the patients won't be able to afford the insurance because the Lawyers have all our money

He is a real regular guy!

And that is code like "you people", but it means a net recipient, not a net payer. What these stupid socialists don't understand is that if their "utopia" comes along, they will no longer be any recipients! Well, except those in charge who get all the perks which is the antithesis of the pure form of their idiology. Very confused people.

You have a good point .. I don't question the cases itself but I do question the huge amounts that were given.

These lawyers are putting people out of business ..

Exactly! You made a good point; that is why both of them are dangerous.

Kerry et al aren't clever enough to conceal their liberalism; Ford and Edwards are smart enough to do so, and they are quite good at it. Both are dangerous.

SENATOR JOHN EDWARDS: UNACCOMPLISHED AND NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME

The problem here is this is similar to Clinton. Clinton was a loser from the state with the 2nd worst education system in the country and he won. (Remember Perot saying CLinton was like the manager of a po-dunk 7-11 when we needed a manager of K-Mart, or something like that) Edwards has done very little so has very little record to go against.

The link you provided was on the spot. Thanks, WE SHOULD NOT BECOME COMPLACENT!!!!!!!I am serious about this. The democrats are slimeballs and wolves and they are extremely desperate, they want to win and will pull out all the stops. We have got to be alert and aggressive and at the same time we have the stinking mess clinton left us with, the economy, terrorism that he ignored, etc....

I scrolled up to read some of the posts and saw the comparison pix of edwards and glen campbell and wanted badly to sing, "I'M A RHINESTONE COWBOY". hehehe

I'm getting more paranoid by the day, honestly. He sure ACTS like he thinks he can get it.....and he sure acts like he's not worried if he gets in trouble with the big boys.

And I am HORRIFIED that the Clintons are behind him.

We have to fight this little SOB from the START!
