You know better than anyone, that Lott always loses negotiations with the Democrats. The Rules committee is probably the WORST place they could have put him.

All I can figure out is that Lott declared himself an endangered species, and the GOP had to come up with an environment suitable for a spineless elephant...

I don't see this as any big deal. It's the crappiest chairmanship in the Senate, and it probably only meets a couple of times each session.

If this was the price to keep Lott in the Senate instead of stepping down entirely, it's a small price to pay.

I figured this was the price Lott charged to stay in the Senate. The GOP needs him in that seat. Our only hope is that he's really pi**ed at the Rats, and out for blood. Fat chance.
