We meet again! Remember, Santorum came out forcefully for Lott to remain as ML. It would seem logical (to a Lott adversary) to give Lott something one of his minions was supposed to get.

I'm not saying I dislike Santorum. But he decided to back the losing candidate and may be paying the price.

Everyone stop overreacting. Rules has NO power in the Senate, only in the House.

The majority leader and his deputies make all the Rules decisions in the Senate.... there is no critical institutional role pertaining to legislative procedure for the Rules Committee in the Senate.

This is a figurehead job.

Santorum was supporting Lott because it was his job as #3 or #4 to do so.

Why is it that the only people who think Republicans are working together are...Republicans.

I bet Lott was told he would have the rules chairmanship, with Santorum's blessing, before he stepped down as SML. The fact that he stepped down as SML but not a Senator shows that he is still playing the game. In fact our party is playing the game very well. There appears to be no rift between Lott factions and Bush factions. There appears to be no Lott faction at all...Just Bush.

Perhaps some that the chairmanship will mean Lott will be in the spotlight...The leftwing media is good but not that good...who cares about the Rules Committee except Senators?
The public couldn't care less.
