Peace rally runs into war veterans; Tempers erupt as protesters meet at Vietnam memorial

I will never forget the impact of seeing the Wall when the traveling one came to my home town.
To think that these so called peaceniks would dare to desecrate it is appalling.
There was a time when most Americans would run them out of town on a rail.
Sadly, it was the Patriots who had to retreat in this instance.
How sad is that?

About 50 people who marched to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Charlotte on Wednesday to protest a possible war with Iraq...

A police officer intervened.. The dozen veterans stepped aside.

Only 4.16 to 1 odds? Smart money on the Vets!

(Even assuming the protesters were sober, 4 to 1 still isn't enough to save their peacenik behinds..)

Why on earth would any veteran in his right mind object to someone exercising their constitutional rights? This is exactly why we served- to preserve the right of anyone to express their opinion, no matter how popular or right they may be. Democracy isn't always pretty and isn't always comfortable, but it is always worthy of protection.

The true enemies of our country are those who seek to curtail the free speech and the free exchange of ideas. The most dangerous of these enemies are those who wrap themselves in the flag to desecrate what that flag stands for- the right to hold and express any opinion without fear of censorship or reprisal.
