...how can you be sure the Church Fathers have it right?

We cannot be absolutely sure about anything that any human has to say, correct? Even ourselves.

However, when one reads the Church Fathers and sees that the Church has been consistent in its interpretations for almost 2000 years, then that gives us a good indication that they are teaching the truth.

We all need to be very discerning about teachings, even if they're from Church Fathers.

Indeed we do. Which Church Fathers have you read?

I don't belong to a liturgical church and haven't read much from any source except the Bible. I've looked up things in Matthew Henry's concordance before but that still is open to interpretation. I just don't want you to blindly accept everything you are taught. End of sermon.
