The other day I was dying to hear "New York's a Lonely Town (When you're the only surfer boy around)". Now, where could I go to hear this, let alone buy it at a reasonable price?

My obvious solution was to go to Kazaa.

The obvious solution for the music industry is to negotiate some kind of fee with the software or hardware industry.

I know that song! That must be the 1965 hit by the Trade Winds! I punched it into WinMX and there it was. Try finding that in your record store!

Try digging up this chestnut "Echo Park" by Keith Barbour. I looked for this song for weeks and finally found it on WinMX. If I could get this on CD, I'd buy it in a heartbeat as it brings back many memories for me from when I was a kid and the Vietnam War was raging. It is a great song about a father who lost his son in that war.

We already pay a fee on every tape or Cd sold under the assumption that copyrighted material will be placed on them. This argument goes all the way back to wire recorders.

I listen to music on the radio and record it for my own use, that is legal and is taxed via the tax placed on all recordable media, and surrendered to the media moguls.

I guess we will have to place a tax on hard drives :)

I try to use Kazaa only for songs that are on a CD with only a few songs I like. But, I don't always know since when I hear something on the radio I sometimes run right to the Kazaa to download it.

There was a song I thought of the other day and the CD is out of print. I will download it on Kazaa if I can and do not think it is wrong.....
