We are so fortunate to live in the United States. I wish more of us realized it. WEll, I for one, realize it. That is why I am very concerned about anything that threatens it.

The seriousness of this deterioriating situation can be guaged by reports from Venezuela that cerveza (beer) in in short supply. The US and other countries in the region should intervene to insure that beer imports are not affected by the strike.
Aruba and Curacao have the means to ship in large quantities of Amstel and Heinekein if the US refuses to act. Next we'll hear that there is a shortage of Cacique (Venezuelan rum).

A bullet 6 months ago would have solved all this. I have no idea why Bush flinched.

Bush flinched? I don't think so. Venezuala was the reason Bush wanted Otto Reich.
The person we can blame for obstructing Mr. Reich's placement is leaky Leahy, Democrat Senator from Vermont.

All this crap going on in the world. Venezuela. N. Korea. Middle East. Europe and Japan (economic problems). Mexico. Russia. India. And on and on.
You are so right about this Sam...the underlying reason being that the ideals of the revolution of 1776; government with the consent of the governed etc. are still extremely radical ideas. See how rare true democratic or republican governance is in the world today...few if any of the nations you mentioned have it...having seen some of the third-world cesspools (Phillipines, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, etc.) I fear for the future of our great country if something isn't done about the immigration invasion and the general breakdown of law and order. I wish I could offer a solution. Freepers?
