We already have the growing number of federal employees who are excepted from Social Security.

Wrong. The law was changed during the Reagan administration.

Forgive me, I don't have time to read all that.

My statement stands, I have known Mexicans who work here (possibly legal - green card of legalized immigrants) who return to Mexico and as they put it "Live like Kings".

This is what leads me to believe this newest proposal is something entirely different.

The Washington Post article stated that the Mexican government wants credit given to illegal aliens who worked under phony Social Security numbers.

A Roth style IRA has no large tax "zinger" when you go to withdraw.. so therefor the Gooberment can't get you.. A conservatve mutual fund with a good company isn't that much of a chore to mantain.. I'm sure I would spend MUCH more time watching the Feds.

A Medical savings account is controlled by you so it is hard for the Gooberment and/or the Medical complex to get you. Of course they will still be involved in the Catastropic insurance part. There is somethng about the power to endorse or not endorse a check that gives one power. RULE: Prepaid service is Never Good..

A Flat tax keeps the Gooberment from trying to rule every aspect of your life and behavior through the tax code.. Ppl who are lghtly taxed seem to demand others pay..

All of these.. seem to improve my personal freedom, ecomomy..

Why the need for two separate accounts, Retirement & Medical?
It's MY doggone money.
I should be free to save and invest as I see fit.
And utilize those savings for whatever purpose I wish, as the need arises.

THAT is personal freedom.
NOT a bunch of government bureaucrat fine print, regulating my savings/investment options.

What you say is 100.000 % true.. BUT human nature what it is... A bunch of ppl will not set up a short time and a long time budget and nestegg.. The Medical account would be starting to come into effect earlier and the retirement most probably.. later in life.

Providing saving (by mandate) for retirement shouldn't be wiped out by medical costs along the way.. At any point.. if savings are not forced.. the "rich" and the responsible will always be forced politicly to pay for another's benefit (ala Crisus).

Being pretty much of a Libertarian myself.. I agree it is one's own responsbilty to provide for self and family.. but there is practical limitations on dealing with ppl who don't give or want to receive personal charity... Most Marxists prefer the Gooberment taking from one by force to give to them.. They somehow think that is a moral highground, frankly I do not!.

What's ironic is that some unions are SS exempt, so is congress.

What's that tell you?

I am sure - and it will probably happen unless the American people complain loud and long.

SS has also become the funding trough of the left.
Whenever they need monies to fund their BS, they raid SS funds.
Remember how badly they freaked when the mention of "lock boxing" SS was made?

SS has also become the funding trough of the left.

The SS Trust Fund has been plundered by thieves from both sides of the aisle.
Neither major political party can claim innocence.
If the same fraudulent misappropriation occurred in the private sector, corporate executives would be living out the rest of their lives in a federal penitentiary.

Yes.
'The left' refers to those who do such crap.
But... you'll never see true reform of that system.
You and I will be in our graves for years before anyone even grows the guts to make even a paltry attempt to fix it.

The Washington Post article stated that the Mexican government wants credit given to illegal aliens who worked under phony Social Security numbers.

How, exactly, does the U.S. Government not notice that a Social Security number is phony when it is asked to credit money to it?

We have all recieved our Social Security statement letters. If the U.S. Government still remembers how much money I contributed when I was in 10th Grade, how can the U.S. Governmemt not notice that a number has not been issued or is the number of a deceased individual?

If the illegal alien is using someone else's active Social Security number, the solution is very simple. The money should be credited and extra money should be paid out.......to the legal owner of that Social Security number. :-)

Social Security=Legal Pyramid Scheme

We should have a complete, but incremental privatization plan instituted for Social Security.

Social Security is a Ponzi chain scheme
By law its "payroll tax" revenue current-accounts surplus must be "invested" in Treasury notes.

"Invested" belongs in quotes because the "Social Security Trust Fund" will no more help our descendants raise the money to make up the current-account deficit expected in the future than you can make yourself rich by writing a $1 billion IOU to yourself . . .
