I don't know about the 'medical term' thing, but a black woman in my hometown named her son....Regret. He was in 6th grade when I was in 4th, so I didn't know him, but I did find his photo and name in the school yearbook. I took it to my mother so we could laugh at it together (I was only 9), but she didn't find it at all amusing. "How can parents do that to their kids?" , she wondered. And that's certainly a valid question. I cannot believe that that woman was ignorant of the literal meaning of so common a word as "Regret", either.

There was a kid on my neighborhood named Dick Hunter. And I knew someone who went to school with a Vietnamese kid named Dic Lic.
