To: Vermont Lt
Ummmm .... I was in the military in 69. I was in Vietnam in 72. Oh .... and I volunteered. From what I have heard from several young people that I have asked about the military is that they think it is a gigantic video game and not really prepared for life in the trenches should it come to that. Granted they may not be any less patriotic than the kids of the sixties BUT ... in the sixties it was still ok to play cowboys and indians or "army" in school ... if you get my drift

No disagreement about the reality of what life is like under arms. However, I believe that many more would be willing to do what it takes than most old-fogey's like us think.

That said, playing guns was much more acceptable then--but a round or two of Quake is just as violent!
