I find that when I go down South, if I say: "Pleased to meetcha" in my obvious New York accent when I meet someone, they're quite pleasant to me.

I suspect that if I said instead: "Ay! Lincoln kicked yer ass, ya stuttering prick, ya!" I might get a different response.
