I've been watching my local paper (The Bellingham Herald- WA) since the first article was printed about Patty and her idioctic comments. It was on the front page, but of the second part, and below the fold... So far, there hasn't been a SINGLE letter to the editor about it... Maybe everyone else here is in my spot- independant business owner who needs an income...

More likely the editors don't want to see any backlash that would serve to keep the story alive.
"Fair and balanced" isn't a concept much honored in the print media.

It could be that the newspaper you reference has a letter to the editor filter person to make sure the wrong points of view don't get published in the letters section. The leftist Detroit News has such a person who does the filtering, and has actually written articles about how he determines what letters get printed. We don't want to offend people don't you know--unless they're conservative, white, above poverty level income, and their point of view doesn't coincide with the News' committment to avoid the obvious in reporting.
