How about this little novel idea, the government, before deciding on spending blood and treasure, consults the people in either open debate or referendum or a Congressional vote (as per Constitution by the way) on going to war...what a crazy notion. Or do you just believe in giving people blank checks. And for that matter all pertenant questions, such as cost to benefit ratios, should be addressed.

Are you trying to say that Congress has not debated this issue of War against Iraq?

We elect our represenatives in Congress to make informed decisions on National Security issues. Some of the info they have can not be shared with the public.

Try this "novel" idea....... On issues of War and Peace. These decisions are made by Congress and not by reforendum or town hall meeting. Congress has authorized our Commander-in-Chief to take whatever action neccessary to defend this nation and our National interest as well as defending our allies.

End of Story

Because that's not how the US government works. We already elected them to represent our interests, not come running to us every time there is a decision to make. They are supposed to understand the situation better than we do, and make the right choices. That is why we elect them.

As for "public debate". I hear this asked a lot, but how is this supposed to happen? On the sunday morning talk shows? Most on the peacenik side seem incapable of little more than rhetoric, much less debate
